1AETC LaFleur Tornado

During the past few months, our state, community and family was affected by one of the worst natural disasters in the history of Alabama. Life for some of us will never be the same again. When tragedy like this strikes, our hopes for security and peace can be shattered. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Life moves on, and the world still turns. Life requires us to move forward and face our responsibilities, sometimes feeling restless, hopeless.

How has the devastation by the recent tornado impacted your life? How have you and others learned to find comfort in this time of suffering and uncertainty?

  1. The tornado came within 2 blocks from my house. It made my family very thankful for the small things in our life. Several of our church members' homes were totally gone or damaged. Our church became a disaster relief center. It was amazing the out pouring of supplies and workers. Our church received enough money to build 5 houses for families in our community. We have seen church groups from as far as Texas volunteering this summer.

  2. My daughter was in Tuscaloosa during the tornado. I am very thankful that she was not harmed and is home safe.

  4. April 27, 2011 was one of the longest days ever. Many people in the state of Alabama lost lives, property, and livelyhood. But with the grace of God all will be healed.

  5. We lost power for several days but in comparison to the devastation all around, this is a minimal hardship that enabled me to learn much.
